• Asheville Testing is an in-network provider for Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Aetna, Medicaid (Vaya & Health Choice), Medicare, TRICARE, MHN, Crescent, and Healthgram.

  • We will no longer accept United Healthcare after 9.30.2021.

  • We will no longer be accepting the following Medicaid payers: Wellcare, Healthy Blue, United UHC Community, and Amerihealth.

• The standard out-of-network fee for evaluation is $160/hour for the initial session, testing administration, scoring, interpretation, written summary, feedback session, and consultation with your pertinent professionals and significant others. A comprehensive assessment usually totals between 12-18 billable hours.

• Dr. Mulchay’s fees for court-ordered evaluations begin at $350/hour for Western North Carolina. Please contact the office for Dr. Mulchay’s national fees.

• We work very hard to make psychological testing affordable by working with insurance companies. We have found success in billing insurance companies for psychological testing. As with any medical appointment, you are responsible for your deductible and copays.

  • Unfortunately, most insurance companies will not pay for educational evaluations, ADHD evaluations, or court-ordered evaluations.

  • Please note that if your insurance company requires a pre-authorization, we will try to help. However, we have found that insurance companies make it very difficult to get pre-authorization.
